1975

Our history began with a godly woman named Effie Merritt started praying that God would establish a Bible-believing Presbyterian church in Northern Anderson County. Covenant Presbyterian Church stands today as a testimony to what God can do when His people step out in prayer, vision and faith.

Our History

1981

A small group of believers started to meet together for a Bible study. Leaders of the group quickly felt confident that God was leading toward organization as a mission church. Space was rented at Wren High School, and on September 20, 1981, the first service of worship was held. Sixty-five people came!

Our History

1982

The church was received by Calvary Presbytery of the PCA as a particular church on April 4, 1982 and the Rev. Steve Bostrom was called as its first pastor. Steady growth came and a building program was launched. The present facility was dedicated to God’s glory on December 8, 1985.

Our History

1992 – 2005

As ministries expanded, so did the congregation and staff. Need for additional classroom space prompted a building program in 1992. A new Educational Building housing classrooms and a kitchen was built debt-free and dedicated on September 24, 1995. And in 2005, The Covenant Family Life Center was built to meet the growing needs of the church for outreach and serving the community of believers.

Our History

2005 – Present

Covenant Presbyterian Church is blessed and thanks God for all He has done. We praise the Lord for our Christian heritage, and our privilege to help launch churches locally in SC and in 4 other locations around the United States.
