Leading up to His death on the cross, Jesus decided it would be good for a few of His disciples to see who He really was.  He did this through Peter, James and John.  Leading the three men on top of a high mountain, Jesus decided not to hold back His glory any longer.  In Matthew 17:2 scripture tells us “There he was transfigured before them.”

This past week, as I listened to the rain hit the roof of our home (for obvious reasons) my mind began to drift and think about Noah.  What kind of man does the Bible say he was? What was it like to build a huge ark when he had never seen rain? Friends and neighbors probably made fun of him and called him crazy. Why did God ask him to take such a leap of faith and build an ark? Did Noah hesitate even for a moment?

When I was in high school and college, I had several different types of jobs. Cutting grass for several families, working at a car wash, doing construction and selling shoes at an athletic store were just a few things that I did to make money. One of the things I remember was how I looked forward to punching that time clock and getting off work. To me, that was ultimate freedom!

I have always been impressed with those who can/jar/preserve their own vegetables from a garden. To me, there is something satisfying when you twist that metal ring and pry the lid off of that old mason jar.  That’s when you hear the top “pop”. That sound tells my stomach that something good is about to go in it! Last summer I decided to grow my own cucumbers so I could make “bread and butter” pickles. The recipe called for mustard seeds.
